Committed to meeting the new countertop and remodeling needs of families and home owners across Idaho, Eastern Washington, and Eastern Oregon.
The kitchen is the heart of the home.
It is where the family gathers and can talk without distractions; where children will not only learn how to make recipes passed down from generation to generation but hear stories about the family members that shared those recipes. As a family owned and operated business, we at Granite Concepts understand how important family is and want to help create a kitchen that will bring your family together.
Carrying the largest stone selection in the region has helped us to accommodate even the most unique design ideas, and although kitchen countertops are a large part of what we do, we are far from limited to only kitchens. Bathroom vanities, fireplace surrounds, shower surrounds, barbeque surrounds, furniture, and any other custom stonework projects are fabricated with the upmost precision and care.
Our quality is what sets us apart.
We only bring in the highest grade material in the industry and by combining the latest fabrication technology with the conventional production process we are able to achieve the best end result. We work with suppliers all over the Northwest to provide the best pricing possible and offer a wide range of products related to natural stone fabrication including marble, travertine, limestone and quartz products.
Here for you every step of the way.
Our knowledgeable staff is always ready and excited to guide you from stone selection through floor plan and design, all the way to post-installation care. We encourage you to see our constantly changing stone selection, ask us as many questions as possible, and watch as we bring your vision to life.
Granite Concepts began as a division of McVicars Construction, owned by John McVicars. After 30 years of building custom homes in the Lewiston/Clarkston Valley, four of which he was President of the Lewiston and Idaho Builders Associations, McVicars wanted to get into short term projects and found his niche working with kitchens and bathrooms. He began researching stone countertops and started building a shop to accommodate his new stone fabricating equipment, and in 2001 Granite Concepts began operations.
It wasn’t long before Granite Concepts became too busy for McVicars to be involved with both companies. He sold the construction business and dove fully into Granite Concepts with the help of his wife Julie. A few years later it had grown again and was too large for the shop and office he started in eight years prior, so McVicars made the move to their current location in North Lewiston off of Highway 12, across the river from the Clearwater Paper mill (previously Potlatch).
In 2009, Granite Concepts welcomed two new owners: Chad McVicars, the son of John and Julie, and Mark Darnell who has been with the company since its inception and is the son-in-law of John and Julie. Together they remain committed to meeting the new countertop and remodeling needs of families and home owners across Idaho, Eastern Washington, and Eastern Oregon.
